ThinkSystem SR650 Fan Module – Hot-Swap System Cooling (Single-Rotor)
Description
Hot-swap system fan module for the ThinkSystem SR650 (Gen1). Designed for N+1 redundancy and mid-plane airflow, this single-rotor fan drops into the SR650 fan cage and can be replaced live without shutting down the server. Ideal as a direct replacement for failed units or to populate the 6th position when adding a second CPU or higher-TDP options.
Technical Specifications
- Form factor: Hot-swap system fan module (single-rotor)
- Hot-swap: Yes (serviceable without powering off the server)
- Placement: Mid-plane fan cage (system fans)
- Redundancy: N+1 cooling design supported by SR650 (5 fans with 1 CPU, 6 fans with 2 CPUs)
- Control: PWM speed control via system firmware / XClarity
- Typical use: Base cooling and redundancy for SR650 CPU, memory, and I/O zones
- Intended server: ThinkSystem SR650 (Gen1 platform)
Interchangeable / Replacement Part Numbers
- 01KP692 – SR650 system fan FRU
- 01KP693 – SR650 system fan FRU
✅ Confirmed Compatibility
Please note that the following list is not exhaustive. Compatibility depends on the device’s design and cooling requirements. It’s essential to verify compatibility with the device manufacturer.
✔️ ThinkSystem SR650 (Gen1): Machine Types 7X05, 7X06
☑️ Key Features
- ☑️ Hot-swap, tool-less service – Replace a failed fan live to minimize downtime
- ☑️ OEM fit and airflow path – Correct depth and shroud geometry for SR650 fan cage
- ☑️ Redundant by design – Works with SR650’s N+1 system fan layout (5 or 6 fans depending on CPU count)
- ☑️ Thermal tuning – PWM control integrates with system BIOS/XClarity for adaptive cooling
- ☑️ Drop-in replacement – Matches SR650 mid-plane fan bay connectors and latch points
⚙️ Fit Notes
- Match the FRU printed on your existing fan’s label (01KP692 or 01KP693) before ordering for guaranteed fit.
- SR650 typically uses 5 fans with one CPU and 6 fans with two CPUs; populate all required bays for proper airflow.
- Do not mix dual-rotor and single-rotor system fans; use the same rotor type across all positions.
- After installation, check XClarity/IMM for fan presence and any fault LEDs.
- Apply OEM-grade thermal paste during CPU service for proper heat transfer (sold separately):
