Product Description

6RYJ9 - 2-Position −48V to −60V DC Input Terminal Block Connector for PowerEdge Servers

The 6RYJ9 is a two-position pluggable terminal block used to connect a field-wired −48V to −60V DC source to compatible hot-plug server power supplies. It carries the negative DC source and return conductors into the power supply, while protective earth connects separately to the chassis grounding point.

This is a DC input connector. It is not an AC power cord and does not convert an AC-powered system to DC operation.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Number: 6RYJ9
  • Product Type: Pluggable DC input terminal block / mating connector
  • Number of Positions: 2
  • Electrical Connections: −48V/−60V source and DC return
  • Supported Input Voltage: −48V to −60V DC
  • Maximum Application Current: 32A
  • Required Source Wire: 10 AWG stranded copper
  • Minimum Wire Temperature Rating: 90°C
  • Maximum Source-Wire Length: 2m / approximately 6.6 ft
  • Source-Wire Color: Black
  • Return-Wire Color: Red
  • Safety-Ground Wire: Separate 10 AWG green/yellow stranded copper conductor
  • Connector Pitch: 12mm
  • Wire Entry: Straight / 180-degree entry
  • Termination Type: Captive screw terminal
  • Recommended Tool: No. 2 Phillips screwdriver
  • Source and Return Strip Length: Approximately 13mm / 0.5 in
  • Safety-Ground Strip Length: Approximately 4.5mm / 0.175 in
  • Housing: Locking and polarized two-position housing
  • Recommended Branch Protection: 50A DC overcurrent protection with a suitable interrupt rating
  • Required Power Source: Electrically isolated and reliably grounded SELV DC source
  • Typical Supported PSU Class: 1100W −48V DC hot-plug power supplies
  • Quantity Required: One terminal block per DC power-supply input

The underlying connector platform may carry higher component-level ratings. The supported server installation remains limited to the system-specified 32A maximum using 10 AWG wiring.

Interchangeable / Replacement Part Numbers

Direct catalog and label forms: 6RYJ9, 06RYJ9, CN-06RYJ9

Conditional connector-manufacturer cross-references: 39421-0012, 0394210012, 39421-0002, 0394210002

The 39421-0012 / 0394210012 numbers identify the closest capped two-position connector assembly. The 39421-0002 / 0394210002 numbers identify the corresponding bare connector body and may not include the protective cap or service hardware. Verify the exact housing, cap and included hardware before substitution.

RN5T2 and 0RN5T2 are not interchangeable with 6RYJ9. They belong to a newer DC connector family used by later server platforms.

⚙️ Fit Notes

  • Installation must be completed by a qualified electrician familiar with high-current DC power systems.
  • Use an electrically isolated, reliably grounded −48V to −60V SELV DC source.
  • Provide 50A DC branch overcurrent protection and a readily accessible approved disconnect.
  • Use 10 AWG stranded copper wire rated for at least 90°C.
  • Keep the source and return conductors at or below 2m in length.
  • Connect the black conductor to −48V/−60V and the red conductor to DC return.
  • Reverse polarity can permanently damage the power supply or system.
  • The green/yellow safety-ground conductor connects separately to the chassis grounding post. It does not pass through the two-position connector.
  • Service documentation specifies a No. 6-32 nut with locking washer for the chassis-ground connection.
  • Strip approximately 13mm from the source and return conductors before inserting them into the terminal block.
  • Tighten the captive screws with a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver.
  • Install the protective cap over the terminal screws before connecting the block to the power supply.
  • One terminal block is required for each installed DC PSU. A redundant two-PSU configuration normally requires two connectors.
  • Never mix AC and DC power supplies in the same system.
  • This connector does not convert an AC-only chassis into a DC-powered configuration.
