Product Description

GF138 / NP865 / 8F138 - 5V 3-Pin CPU Cooling Fan for Latitude D531 D820 D830 Precision M65 M4300

This genuine OEM CPU cooling fan replaces compatible GF138, NP865, 8F138, and F5C80 fan assemblies used in select Latitude and Precision PP04X laptops.

Several interchangeable manufacturing versions exist. Label style, current rating, airflow rating, and secondary model numbers may vary, but the compatible versions use the same 5V three-wire electrical configuration, keyed 3-pin connector, molded housing, mounting pattern, cable route, and exhaust position.

A fan model number alone is not sufficient to confirm compatibility because some base motor numbers were installed in multiple housings. The complete fan must match the housing, mounting holes, exhaust opening, cable length, cable exit, connector, and wire order shown.

⭐➕ Recommended Thermal Grease — Sold Separately

New thermal compound is generally unnecessary when replacing only the fan and leaving the heatsink installed.

If the processor heatsink must be removed or the existing compound is disturbed, clean both mating surfaces and apply fresh G751 High-Performance Thermal Grease before reinstalling the heatsink.

Thermal grease does not replace thermal pads used elsewhere in the cooling assembly.

✅ Confirmed Compatibility

Confirm the original GF138, NP865, 8F138, F5C80, or complete manufacturing reference whenever possible.

✔️ Latitude D-Series: Latitude D531, Latitude D531n, Latitude D820, Latitude D830, Latitude D830n
✔️ Precision Mobile Workstations: Precision M65, Precision M65n, Precision M4300, Precision M4300n
✔️ Regulatory Chassis Family: PP04X

☑️ Key Features

☑️ Direct replacement for GF138 and NP865 CPU cooling fans
☑️ Supports documented 8F138 and F5C80 production versions
☑️ DC 5V operation
☑️ Three-wire keyed 3-pin motherboard connection
☑️ Motherboard-controlled operation with tachometer feedback
☑️ Exact PP04X molded blower-housing configuration

☑️ Compatible with the listed Latitude and Precision systems
☑️ Documented airflow and current variants are functionally interchangeable in the correct complete assembly

⚙️ Fit Notes

  • Match the original service number or a complete manufacturing reference listed above.
  • Do not order by the base fan model, voltage, dimensions, or pin count alone.
  • Confirm the molded housing shape, two mounting holes, locating tabs, exhaust opening, connector keying, cable length, cable exit, and wire order.
  • Electrical current and airflow markings vary among documented interchangeable production builds.
  • This is a three-wire fan. Do not substitute a four-wire PWM fan solely because it uses a physically similar connector.
  • This fan is separate from the heatsink and heat-pipe assembly.
  • RT912 and 0RT912 identify a heatsink assembly and are not interchangeable fan numbers.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery before servicing the system.
  • Prevent the fan cable from touching the impeller or being pinched beneath the cover.
  • Clean accumulated dust from the heatsink fins and exhaust path during installation.
  • Apply new thermal grease only if the heatsink is removed or the existing compound is disturbed.
  • After installation, verify that the fan starts properly and that the system does not report a fan diagnostic error.
