Product Description

32GB 40-Pin IDE SSD SDHC Card and Adapter Replacement for Legacy 3.5-Inch PATA Hard Drives

This 32GB solid-state storage kit combines a full-size SDHC card with an SD35VC0 40-pin IDE/PATA converter board. It is designed as an electrical replacement for many aging 32GB-and-smaller 3.5-inch IDE hard drives used in vintage computers, industrial systems, CNC equipment, kiosks, arcade machines and test instruments.

The converter operates as the Master device on its IDE channel. This is a bare PCB assembly rather than an enclosed 3.5-inch drive, so a mounting bracket or protective carrier may be required for the intended installation.

✅ Technical Specifications

  • Brand: CPU Medics
  • Product Type: SDHC-to-IDE solid-state drive replacement kit
  • Nominal Storage Capacity: 32GB
  • Storage Media: Full-size removable SDHC card
  • Converter Board Model: SD35VC0
  • Common Controller Architecture: FC1307A-based SD-to-IDE design
  • Host Interface: 40-pin desktop IDE / PATA / EIDE
  • Supported ATA Operation: Up to Ultra DMA / ATA-66 depending on the host controller, cable and board revision
  • Device Configuration: Master only
  • Slave Jumper: Not provided
  • Addressing Mode: LBA for full nominal capacity
  • Maximum Listed CHS Geometry: 16,383 cylinders × 16 heads × 63 sectors
  • Logical Sector Size: 512 bytes
  • Power Options: Standard four-pin peripheral connector or small four-pin FDD-style connector
  • Status Indicators: Power, card detection and drive activity
  • Hot-Swap Support: No
  • Mechanical Format: Bare converter PCB; not an enclosed 3.5-inch drive
  • Included Card Manufacturer: May vary according to availability
  • Operating-System Preparation: Blank storage must be partitioned, formatted and loaded with the required operating system or application

Actual formatted capacity will appear lower than the advertised 32GB because storage manufacturers and operating systems calculate capacity differently.

✅ Model and Cross-Reference Information

  • Exact Converter Board Reference: SD35VC0
  • Common Controller Reference: FC1307A
  • Normalized Search Form: SD35VC0
  • Storage Type: 32GB SDHC card on a 40-pin IDE converter board

The final character in SD35VC0 is the numeral zero, not the letter O.

CF16GEKSA-FD066-D should not be used as an interchangeable part number for this product. That number identifies a separate 16GB CompactFlash product and not the 32GB SDHC-based assembly described here.

There is no universal hard-drive part number that guarantees interchangeability with this kit. Compatibility is determined by the IDE interface, original drive sector count, BIOS capacity support, addressing mode, device-role configuration and application requirements.

⚠️ Critical Compatibility Information

  • This kit connects to a 40-pin desktop IDE/PATA interface. It does not connect directly to 44-pin laptop IDE, SATA, SCSI or SAS interfaces.
  • The board operates as Master only and does not provide a Slave or Cable Select adjustment.
  • Installation on a dedicated primary or secondary IDE channel is recommended.
  • If another device shares the same ribbon cable, that device must be configured as Slave. Successful shared-channel operation cannot be guaranteed with every controller.
  • Use an 80-conductor IDE cable when the host is operating in Ultra DMA/ATA-66 mode. A traditional 40-conductor cable may force a lower transfer mode.
  • Connect power through either the large peripheral connector or the small FDD-style connector—never connect both power inputs at the same time.
  • The host BIOS must support LBA addressing to access the full nominal 32GB capacity.
  • Systems with a 528MB, 2.1GB, 4.2GB, 8.4GB or similar BIOS barrier may recognize only part of the card or may fail to boot from it.
  • A fixed CHS configuration of 16,383 × 16 × 63 represents approximately 8.46GB of addressable storage, not the full 32GB.
  • When cloning an existing drive, verify that its total logical-sector count does not exceed the sector count reported by the new assembly.
  • The SDHC card is not hot-swappable while connected through this IDE board. Shut down and disconnect power before inserting or removing it.
  • Some industrial controllers require a specific model string, CHS geometry, timing behavior or transfer mode. A matching connector and capacity alone does not guarantee compatibility.

ATA-66 describes a host-interface transfer mode and does not guarantee 66MB/s sustained performance.

✅ Compatible 3.5-Inch IDE Hard Drive Replacement Models

The following 3.5-inch 40-pin PATA hard-drive models and OEM/service references fall within the supported 32GB capacity range and are valid replacement candidates for this assembly. Compatibility remains subject to the BIOS, sector count, addressing and Master-device requirements described above.

IC35L020A is a family-level reference. Confirm the complete suffix when an exact original-drive identification is required.

OEM and service references can identify drives manufactured under different production agreements. The original label should still be checked for a 3.5-inch form factor, 40-pin PATA interface and capacity no greater than the destination card’s reported sector count.

⚙️ Installation and Fit Notes

  • Back up the original drive before beginning installation.
  • Shut down the system and disconnect AC power.
  • Observe the Pin 1 marking on the board and the colored stripe on the IDE ribbon cable.
  • Connect only one of the two available power inputs.
  • Install the board as the Master device, preferably alone on its IDE channel.
  • Secure the exposed PCB so it cannot contact the chassis or other electronics.
  • Enter the system BIOS and use automatic drive detection with LBA mode when available.
  • Partition and format the storage using tools appropriate for the target operating system.
  • When restoring an image, confirm that the original image fits within the destination’s reported logical-sector count.
  • Do not insert or remove the SDHC card while the system is powered.
  • A separate mounting bracket or protective carrier may be required because the PCB does not provide a complete 3.5-inch drive enclosure.
  • The SDHC card manufacturer, model and label may vary while maintaining the specified 32GB capacity.
