Replacing the fan by itself normally does not require removal of the heatsink. If the heatsink is removed or the existing thermal interface is disturbed during service, clean off the old compound and apply fresh thermal grease before reassembly.

• Match RFF51, 0RFF51 or another listed fan reference whenever possible.
• Confirm that the laptop uses an UMA / integrated-graphics cooling configuration. Systems with discrete graphics may use a different heatsink or cooling assembly.
• Compare the fan housing shape, exhaust opening, mounting tabs, cable exit location, cable length and 4-pin connector with the original fan.
• Compatible fan-manufacturer revisions may be labeled 0.35A, 0.40A or 0.50A. A different current marking alone does not indicate incompatibility when the RFF51 reference, housing, connector and mounting arrangement match.
• The Vostro 14 3420 is compatible. Do not confuse it with an Inspiron 14 3420, which is a different platform.
• Model numbers 3520 and 3521 were also used on older laptop generations. This fan is intended for the newer RFF51-based chassis, not legacy 2012-2013 Inspiron models.
• The Inspiron Desktop 3250 and other systems identified only as 3250 are not included in the verified RFF51 compatibility list.
