⚙️ Fit Notes

• A Type II PC Card is thinner than a Type III hard-drive card. It can replace a Type III ATA card only when the host slot accepts Type II cards and does not require the original card thickness for retention.
• Do not force the card into a CardBus-only, ExpressCard, CompactFlash-only, or proprietary card socket.
• A 68-contact connector alone does not establish compatibility. The host must support the PCMCIA ATA storage protocol.
• Generic CompactFlash cards may identify themselves as removable media. Some operating systems, industrial controllers, and embedded applications require fixed-disk identification.
• Some legacy hosts require specific CIS data, ATA IDENTIFY information, manufacturer codes, firmware responses, or disk geometry that a generic CompactFlash card does not reproduce.
• A system limited to 42MB, 85MB, 105MB, 170MB, 260MB, 340MB, 421MB, 520MB, or 1GB may require a partition no larger than the original supported capacity.
• DOS, FAT16, early BIOS implementations, and proprietary operating systems may require specific partition sizes, cylinder/head/sector geometry, or partition-start locations.
• The usable capacity displayed by the operating system will be lower than the nominal 2GB rating.
• Before performing a sector-by-sector clone, confirm that the replacement card contains at least as many addressable sectors as the original drive. Two products advertised as 2GB can have different exact sector counts.
• The Toshiba HDD1212 / MK2001MPL has the same general capacity and PC Card ATA application, but the CompactFlash assembly does not reproduce the original drive’s mechanical characteristics, firmware identity, or exact geometry.
• This is not a full-capacity replacement for 5GB drives such as HDD1232, MK5002MPL, or DP-PCM2/5GB.
• Reformatting or repartitioning may be required even when the card arrives formatted.
